Yay Niki!

Niki Roderick just set the New Zealand national record for Constant Ballast no fins, 53 meters, at the Gulf Stream Invitational Competition, which she also organized!

Niki is a friend with a beautiful presence in and out of the water. She now assists her partner Martin Stepanek in running the FIT school in Florida. I myself benefited greatly from Martin's instruction and Niki's support in Hawaii. After he gave me some monofin swimming technique tips in Hawaii I came home and went from 100 to 125 meters in dynamic immediately. Niki's calm inward view reminds me that it's not about competing with others, but realizing your potential. I welcome the opportunity to see them again. Maybe another reason to re-visit competing....?

Meanwhile, go to my links to see a video of Niki doing a practice dive to 50 meters. Her technique is beautiful and you can see why she was successful.

Congratulations Niki!
